Afterthought: We cannot just blissfully replace copyright notices, either. It
doesn't work like that. So we need to look at the footers we are replacing and
ensure that we are not crossing a line with our new one. This may mean we
can't do it wholesale.

No, I don't believe the standalone use of the feather is appropriate yet. The
full footer has the proper incubator symbol on the other end.

The adjusted figure with the gulls over Open seems fine, since it is part of
the symbolic recognition for OpenOffice.org. The asymmetry does not seem
unpleasant.

I would like to see the full English language footer though, and we need to
know what the non-English forms are in English. This may also be an
inappropriate form for notices, or else they may need to be dual-language.
We'll need help to figure out what the appropriate formalities are for that,
since there are legalities involved.

Finally, it is the case, at the moment, that the project is Apache
OpenOffice.org (incubator). Do we have a timeline for the earliest we would
expect to go live with this? I'm concerned that it locks us into having the
Apache project core development and the OpenOffice.org site identified in ways
that are not differentiated. It is not clear to me that we have resolved this
in the context of refactoring the brand (or not).

Or is this limited, so far, to the pages found at OpenOffice.org and not
Apache.org?

Any chance you could add little micro "smiley faces" to the gulls :-)

Personally, I prefer the original. I assume, that you do not need to
include the Apache feather (ashamed to admit I did not read Apache's
requirements).

I seem to remember more color in another version. I must be loosing my
memory.
