If you are subscribed to the ooo-issues list (and if you have Dev or
QA interests then you should be subscribed) you will notice a series
of new issues that are prefaced as "[From Symphony]".

A quick explanation of what that means, wearing my "IBM Hat" for a minute.

IBM's Symphony team in Beijing has gone through bug reports from
recent releases of Symphony and pulled out the high severity issues
(generally crashes) that were found and fixed in Lotus Symphony. They
then retested these test cases in an AOO 3.4 dev snapshot build.
Where the issues was reproducible in AOO 3.4, they entered a bug
report into BZ. Yan Ji checked in the first 10 last night. I'm told
there are around 100 overall.

Note: We already have fixes for all of these bugs that we can
contribute to AOO 3.4. (Remember, the test cases were already
filtered by issues that have been fixed already in Symphony). So you
probably don't want to spend a lot of time trying to debug and fix
these issues. We have the fixes.

But what would be useful to this effort would be:

1) Help us prioritize these bugs, via your votes

2) Help us connect these issues to duplicate or related bug reports.
But if we can keep the "From Symphony" version open, that will help us
connect the patches to the right issues.

3) Help reviewing and pushing the patches

Personally, I think this is great news. Everyone benefits from the
increase in quality when we fix these high severity issues. It is
also a way for the project to benefit from Symphony code contributions
even before we start work on AOO 4.0.
