Well, I have to assume you aren't content filtering / firewalling an entire school district's web access through it. Squid is right for some applications, and not for others. I need a very simple proxy with a SMALL footprint, that is why oops is right for me. It takes about half of the CPU that squid did even with all caching turned off.
