I just committed changes to the repository that make the rxapi process run
as a daemon on *nix systems. The RPM build was enhanced to accommodate this
change but the Debian build was not.
But you should watch out for something as a result of this change.
Everything works fine if you install the rpm but I did not check to see if
this change impacts running an uninstalled build. You may find that you
have to manually kill rxapi in some cases (maybe all cases) when you
rebuild the interpreter. Just be prepared for some anomalies.
The reason for this is that I turned on new code in one of the rxapi source
files and it now unconditionally morphs itself to a daemon. Which means
that when the interpreter exits the rxapi daemon will continue to run until
you either kill it or logoff. Obviously if you install and uninstall the
rpm this will not be a problem. And I did check the rpm uninstall to make
sure everything gets removed concerning the daemon and that does work.
Mark - The oorexx.spec file has all the info you need concerning how to
install the system daemon (copy one file, create two links). It is pretty
easy so the Debian stuff should not be that hard to implement. Just do not
forget to implement uninstall code for the daemon.
