Generally, I would do this: cd (to wherever you'd like to place the sandbox) svn co https://oorexx.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/oorexx/sandbox cd sandbox
mkdir jlf svn add jlf svn commit Now you can checkout just that portion of the tree using svn co svn co https://oorexx.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/oorexx/sandbox/jlf and just do commits from that working copy. You should never have to do merge operations at all.
