As we would end up needing four options, i.e., -o, -go, -fo, and also -gfo (or 
-fgo)
for "file" and "global" at the same time, maybe a simpler and more elegant way
would be to use a "file:" prefix when using files, thus:

<options> ::= (-o | -go) ("string" | file:<filespec>)

yes, that looks easier, nicer, indeed!

As <filespec> may be enquoted (because of white space or otherwise illegal characters) the question would be whether "file:" should be outside or inside quotes, if present?
