I mentioned somewhere about some strange decompression artifacts on my

Well, I took my second Sanyo TV back for warranty replacement and this
time I traded the warranty replacement in on a Sony -- a little over
$100 more. It doesn't have the problem so I must presume that it was
the video decode software. Something to look out for it we do H.264 decode.
OTA is mpeg2 not H.264
Yes, I wasn't clear about that -- I didn't say what broadcast was.
Sad that a major brand like Sanyo would get the decode wrong.
It seems to be a general problem caused by the chips used for decode. I
noticed this in reading reviews for DVD players.
This would appear to be a motion compensation issue. IIUC, TI went to
hardware motion compensation for the TMS320DM6467.
