Course after I hit send, I realize that the wording was altered to "Donate to Evergreen" instead for the specific example I selected of a "missing link".

Sorry about that, my mistake.

Neat this sounds great! But curious on some technical details...

The order specified for Community and Contribute menu links are different than the existing entries on the site (and it's missing some of the links too, like the "Support Evergreen" link under current Contribute).

Has there been further discussion in other threads about the menu links and what's included and/or the order for them?

Will these changes also affect the landing pages associated with the links? Should communicate.php now instead be community.php page, with appropriate page title, links on that page changed, etc.

Thanks,

Hi Kathy,

Yea, I was torn about the Chat language. Thanks for the feedback. I'm happy to go with your changes. So that would be:

Community Blogs

Users Groups (note new addition)

Calendar

_Contribute_

Develop Code

Report Bugs

Donate to Evergreen

Committees and Working Groups

Request Feature

    Hi Lori,

I like using community and contribute.

However, I would be inclined to put Chat under community rather
than contribute. Also, I prefer the old language “chat” to
calling it a “Developer Chatroom”. There are non-developers who
participate or just lurk in IRC, and I wouldn’t want to
discourage other non-developers from doing the same. It’s also
used for DIG, reports task force, and community meetings, so I
would say the audience goes beyond developers.

Otherwise, it looks good to me!

    page to the wiki

Here's what I propose for changing the Menus on the Evergreen
Home page. Instead of Communicate and Contribute, we make them
    Community and Contribute.

Here's what I think should be under Community:

    Mailing Lists

    Official Blog

    Community Blogs

    Users Groups (note new addition)

    Calendar

    Under Contribute:

    Develop Code

    Report Bugs

Developer Chatroom (note new language and new position on menu)

Donate to Evergreen (note this is slightly different language)

    Committees and Working Groups

    Request Feature (note new language)

    Thoughts?

    Lori

Maybe the "Community" would encapsulate what we are trying to do

I love the idea to have user group info in the wiki!

I'm a little concerned about moving from "Communicate" to
"Participate", because the latter seems closer in meaning to
"Contribute" and thus muddies the navigation a bit to my mind. But I
guess one could argue that to communicate is to contribute, so things
    are already muddy.

Has anyone checked what other projects (that we admire for their
community support & clarity of their web site) do? Drupal.org &
Fedoraproject.org have some interesting similarities in their
    navigation wording choices...
