I just spent the better part of last week in Circulation Policies… I am in no way an expert, but I can probably help a little.
1 - There is a checkbox for ‘Active?’ in each line. Double-click on the line to open the details. The second item down, right under the Matchpoint ID is the checkbox. Uncheck and that policy will no longer be in effect. I’m guessing that since there isn’t a Delete button you would need to remove from the database directly. 2 – Not sure about this! Interested to see what others say. 3 – I’m sure there are many ways you can use this, but one reason is that you can control what groups of users can circulate items. At our library, we let standard patrons check out a Kindle. We don’t allow our Temporary cardholds to take home this device. So the circ modifier for E-Device allows circulations, and the Circulation Policy for Patrons allows circs, but the Circulation Policy for Temps does not. We can also control how MANY of each circ mod/copy location/etc patrons can check out. Standard patrons can only have one Kindle out at one time. Hope that helps! How can you "delete" a policy you set up and think you don't need? 2. If the default policy was deleted, how can you set up a new one or find out which is the real "default" policy to build from. 3. If you can set the "Circulate?" or "Reference?" at the item level, why is it also available at the policy level? Thanks all...
