Hi Jennifer
We have a couple of libraries that setup an additional org unit to
handle the alternate pickup location. We came up with a workaround so
they didn't have to switch locations to capture holds.
One of the libraries is offering home delivery as a pickup option.
1. Setup org unit = Home Delivery
2. Hold is placed on Item with pickup location = Home Delivery
3. Item appears on Pull List at it's circulating branch
4. Item is captured -> Item is sent In Transit
5. On the capture screen click the item Barcode link takes you to item
status -> Click Holds / Transit to see the holds tab
6. Click on the Patron Name to open the patron account -> Checkout Item
to Patron ->
- a popup appears to warn the item is in transit -> Click Cancel Transit
then Checkout -> Click Force this action? -> Yes
7. Item is delivered to Patron
Thank you
Christine

Hi,
I could imagine (ab)using the curbside pickup feature to do this, along the
lines of:
- enable the feature for that library
- turn off letting the patron make changes to curbside appointments (if the
library is driving when the items get put in a locker)
- when items become available, create an appointment, and (maybe) put the
locker number in the appointment note field
- this will allow the appointment to show up in the My Account page
- also, an A/T event on the hold.confirm_curbside hook could be used to
notify the patron, including locker number
- possibly tweak the OPAC templates for that library so that the My Account
page replaces "curbside" wording with "locker" wording
Now, if you mark the items delivered right away when placing the items in
the locker, that would hide the appointment from My Account. However, maybe
that's OK; the A/T notification could suffice. Alternatively, you could
put the items in the locker without marking the appointment as delivered
and wait until you observe that the locker has been emptied.
Regards,
Galen

Hello,
I have a library that is interested in setting up lockers outside their
library for patrons to pick up items. They were wondering if there was a
workflow in Evergreen to support this practice.
Some thoughts were to set up an another org_unit as a pick up location but
it would result in staff having to switch locations to capture holds etc.
They need someway for the staff to be able to see what should be routed to
the lockers and then they are thinking they will check out the items before
putting them into a locker.
Any thoughts on some other workflow ideas?
