REPORT DEVELOPER

Job Description:  

Our client in Charlotte is looking for a Report Developer.  This individual
will be responsible for code development, peer code review and unit testing.
He or she will participate in requirements gathering to provide technical
input on system options and solutions and build prototypes to validate
system requirements with project management/business analyst teams and
clients.  They will be responsible for the development of the report layout
based on business requirements and the creation and maintenance of the
supporting SQL stored procedures, tables, views and functions.  He or she
will participate in system/unit testing and requirements validation.  They
will build and release management and perform code review and provide
feedback to peers.  This person will provide progress reports for assigned
development tasks to project development lead and will be responsible for
supporting existing applications. 

 

Required Skills: 

*       Must have full lifecycle development experience.
*       Must have experience creating and maintaining software system design
specs and technical documentation.
*       Familiarity with use cases, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, ERDs.

*       Experience in multiple project development and implementations.
*       Must be able to work within a team environment and with tight
deadlines.
*       3+ years development experience.
*       2+ years using Reporting tools such as Reporting Services
(preferred) and/or Crystal Reports (if candidate does not have Reporting
Services), Business Objects.
*       2+ years experience developing against an Enterprise level database
system.
*       Knowledge and experience using versioning and change control
software.
*       Strong analysis and design skills.
*       Excellent written and spoken communications skills.

 Desired Skills: 

*       Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and above preferred. 
*       Reporting Services is the preferred reporting tool.

Job Description: 

Our Charlotte-based retail client seeks a Business Analyst for a short-term
contract position to support corporate initiatives by gathering and
analyzing business requirements, researching and recommending best practices
and delivering end products that meet business objectives on time and on
budget.  

 

Required Skills: 

*       Retail experience.
*       Experience with the SAS Merchandise Intelligence suite.
*       Merchandising experience, including promotional price optimization
modeling.
*       Experience with SASR applications.
*       Proven troubleshooting ability. 
*       Familiarity with business processes and business terminology. 
*       Ability to work in a team atmosphere. 
*       High energy, good work ethic, positive attitude and excellent
communications ability.  

Desired Skills: 

*       Knowledge of replenishment, allocations system, supply chain.
*       Experience in Oracle retail applications, Retek RMS or other Retail
ERP Package.

.         Reason for the Position:  The Database Developer will play a key
role in product development by providing expert schema/script design and
development in a fast-paced, high-growth, flexible environment.  This
position will support the business analysts in the development of specific
product requirements, will formulate designs to fulfill the requirements,
and will provide development expertise to produce good, solid, maintainable
code.  This position will also support other functional areas such as
implementation, database administration, and report development.   

.         Job Description:  From the hiring manager, "This position will be
a little heavier on transaction volume and communication/triggers/processing
than the application itself.  Some reporting is ok, but I am not looking for
a data warehouse guru.  Primarily skills with SQL Server development and
some Java programming. " 

.         On a Scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, these things are
ranked in importance:   . (10) Mid to Sr experience with SQL Server
development - SQL 2005/2008 ideally . (5) M id-level JAVA development    .

and T-SQL scripts (other languages may apply to a lesser extent).

.         * Participates in requirements analysis and definition.

applications, including utilities and queries for testing, monitoring, and
administration of the database and related applications. *Development
efforts will focus mainly on Internet-based data-driven products.  Other
development tasks may also be required. 

.         *Prepares documentation in support of program development.

.         *Creates and maintains system specification and sub-system
specification documentation. 

.         *Follows (and continues to develop) established software
development guidelines and procedures. 

.         *Prepares documentation and paperwork used in the planning and
preparation stages of the application and the instructions for its use.

.         *Works with third-party outside consultants and experts to
accomplish specific projects and tasks.  

.         *Helps project managers estimate project timelines.

.         *Troubleshooting, Debugging, and Maintenance -- Analyzes existing
software for adequacy to meet the intended task.

and documentation tasks as required.

.         *Helps design and implement new technical solutions based on

strategies for new and existing database code.

.         *Report Development Support: Works with database and reporting
tools such as Red Gate, DataJunction, JasperReports, iReport, MS Access and
others.

.         *Collaborates with Application Development team and other cross
functional teams to solve product and customer issues.

.         Required Skills:  Minimum 2-3 years of database development
experience in a fast-paced, growing environment.  *Experience in database
planning, design, operational support, hands-on implementation and
configuration of databases, and database security.  * Demonstrable
'must-have' experience with the following technologies: SQL Server
7/2000/2005, MySQL, Windows 2000/2003.  *Experience in developing T-SQL
stored procedures, views, and other database scripts .  *Solid knowledge and
experience in database replication, database backup/recovery, optimization
and performance tuning. Senior-level T-SQL development skills.  *Expertise
in data modeling and data modeling tools.  *Expert hands-on experience with
Data storage and warehousing concepts.  *Expert hands-on experience with
reporting tools (JasperReports preferred).  *Strong skills in algorithms and
working with large volumes of data.  *Good programming skills in various
scripting languages: Python, PERL, Javascript, PHP, etc.  *Strong experience
in database access methodologies.  *Strong experience with XML-centric
integration standards.  *Experience in Linux, UNIX, and Windows
