REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (5 years mandatory minimum experience):

*       J2EE development experience (understanding of J2EE Software
Architecture). 
*       SOA development experience a plus. 
*       Clear understanding of the J2EE software architecture and standards
(requirement) and how it relates to the various Middleware (J2EE) platforms
and APIs. 
*       Experience with J2EE enterprise (large) application support. 
*       Support of clustered environments. 
*       The ability to provide senior level implementation and
administration of enterprise Java middleware environments with minimal
supervision.  
*       Significant experience with any of the following Enterprise Java
application-server environments would be a plus: JBoss, WebSphere, WebLogic.
Experience with Apache & Tomcat. 
*       Knowledge of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (i.e. PIA).  This
includes Tuxedo (version 9.1), Websphere (version 6.1), and PeopleTools
(version 8.48 or above).  All of the above on the AIX UNIX platform is
preferred 
*       Significant experience with clustered app server environments would
also be a plus.   
*       The ability to administer front-end web servers, especially with
regard to how they interoperate with the java containers - connectivity,
load balancing, etc. 
*       Fluency in UNIX/Linux environments - the native commands, tools and
utilities, including core utilities such as awk, sed, and shell scripting.  
*       A fundamental understanding of basic networking concepts, especially
in the realm of TCP/IP and internetworking. 
*       Support various forms of testing - user testing, performance testing
including load and stress testing, and regression testing. 
*       Designed processes for application code migrations and supported
migrations for large scale applications. 
*       Experience with application benchmarking and analysis of JVM
resource usage and system usage. 
*       Experience with troubleshooting application availability and
performance issues w/vendors and development teams. 
*       General understanding of current SOA patterns and standards. 
*       An understanding of the key underlying Enterprise Java technologies
such as JMS, JDBC, and JNDI, and how they're configured and administered in
the containers.   
*       Experience with managing application servers on Unix, Linux and
Windows operating systems. 
*       Development experience with Object Oriented tools or Java. 
*       Development experience with version management systems, Clear Case
or PVCS. 
*       Shell scripting and unix utility scripting experience. 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (preferred):

*       Strong communication and organizational skills. 
*       Ability to handle multiple priorities. 
*       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with all colleagues across the organization and with customers 
*       Takes a holistic approach to resolving incidents and problems. 
*       Prior experience in a large datacenter 
*       Able to demonstrate process improvement through prior technical
implementations 
*       Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis 
*       Ability to follow complex written instructions and create them 
*       Good understanding of disaster recovery practices

Be part of a 24 x 7 rotating on-call production support structure.  Also,
some after-hours environment and application support is required. 

 

Enterprise Applications Bureau is seeking an experienced individual with a
minimum of 5 years experience or equivalent part time in J2EE application
services.

 

The Sr. Middleware Administrator is responsible for the administration and
maintenance of all middleware platforms and for engineering and supporting
technical solutions that meet company and customer requirements. In addition
to operational and engineering duties the incumbent provides technical
solutions to colleagues, customers, the infrastructure planning group (IPG)
and project management office (PMO).

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

*       Provide systems management support for Middleware (J2EE Platforms)
QA and production environments 
*       Knowledge of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (i.e. PIA).   
*       Provide technical assistance to agency users and other agency
personnel throughout the company on technical, professional and/or
administrative matters. 
*       Provide support for Middleware related problems. Identify and
successfully troubleshoot problems. 
*       Monitor JVM capacity. Provide capacity analysis and recommend J2EE,
Database, and OS turning and upgrade recommendations 
*       Work with other teams to improve security, performance, backup
strategies and administration. 
*       Identify repeatable tasks and automate them. 
*       Create and maintain technical documentation including startup and
shutdown and maintenance procedures. Implement middleware infrastructure
standards and workflows for supported environments 
*       Provide end user training as required. 
*       Perform related duties as required. 
*       Provides off-hours support for Middleware related issues. 
*       Provide training to colleagues 
*       Participate in Disaster Recovery efforts, including travel to test
affected computer systems.  
*       Provide technical implementation plans for projects. 
*       Develop platform and environment documentation. 
*       Support design, implementation, and support of J2EE clustering and
24x7x52 availability enhancements 
*       Support the design and development of J2EE systems and monitoring
infrastructure 
*       Support the implementation of company performance SLAs through
support of volume/stress testing and capacity management 
*       Implement automation of systems administration and software
migration for QA and Production 
*       Develop relationships with QA and development organizations and
establish application turnover procedures and process enhancements 
*       Provide architecture and configuration recommendations to ensure
deployed environments are J2EE compliant
