You will be responsible for working closely with the business product owners to understand requirements and advise on technical solutions and feasibility. Will work closely with the agile development teams to design, build and delivery solutions to production. Will be the technical expert on a project/release team; responsible for the technical success of a project or group of projects. Takes ownership of escalated issues, decide between competing solutions and arbitrates between project teams in a release. May be involved in mentoring Scrum teams on design and coding best practices, portlet design, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and reuse opportunities. Works with the Architecture and Strategy teams within Client to research new technology and development approaches and create best practices around them. Advises on optimal work breakdown to allow releases and projects to take advantage of reuse, standard designs/frameworks and SOA. Provides assistance with, and review of, the load testing team's test plans and test cases to ensure early and appropriate load testing is done. Works with project Technical Leads to identify critical/new components for early performance profiling or load testing. Ensures release conforms to all security standards and other non-functional requirements. Creates, socializes and mentors the use of design and coding best practices and standards. Will have experience with Linux and Open Source tools for software development, Portal technologies, particularly WebSphere Portal, and migration of traditional J2EE web sites to a Portal/SOA based architecture. This is a very hands-on Technical Architect position. The ideal candidate will be very proactive and self directed and be equally comfortable coding in Java as presenting technical concepts and designs to senior leaders in the group.
