Position: Teradata Lead DBA Location: Boca Raton, FL Duration: 6+ Months Complete Description: . Serves as an expert consultant to applications developers to provide expertise on database capabilities and constraints . Supports application development teams by recognizing and evaluating database issues and implementing solutions. . Performs data modeling; develops physical designs that demonstrate trade-offs between logical design and system performance . Creates logical and physical database designs . Establishes security and replication procedures . Demonstrates expert understanding of database performance tuning, data backup, recovery and security processes/ procedures . Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent training and experience; Graduate degree preferred . Approximately 8-12 years experience in related field . 5+ years Teradata DBA (V2R6/TD12/TD13) experience, in a production environment required . Participates in 24x7 on-call support rotation Required Skills: . Database Administration and System Monitoring - Comprehensive and practical knowledge of the following: . Extensive experience with system and application troubleshooting, upgrades, workload management, performance tuning, recovery, and capacity planning of the Teradata Database 12/13 in a MP-RAS/Linux environment . Support and implementation of tools and utilities such as Fastload, FastExport, Multiload, TPump, Teradata Parallel Transporter (TPT), Data Mover, Viewpoint, Arcmain including Cluster archives . Serve as an expert consultant to application developers to provide expertise on SQL, Macros, Stored Procedures, Triggers, and AJIs/JIs . Strong knowledge of Teradata database administration best practices required . Interface with the latest BIDW technologies such as Cognos, SAS, DataStage . Fundamental knowledge of operating systems and system development Communication/Personal - Strong demonstration of the following: . Ability to multi-task under minimum supervision . Detail-oriented and good follow-up skills . Excellent written and verbal communication skills with project management and planning experience .
