·         Network Engineer is responsible for the hands-on management,
installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cisco-based Ethernet IP
data network; including wiring, switching, fiber plant, video services,
network environmental monitoring equipment, MPLS circuits, and supporting
documentation database.

·         This includes the diagnosis and repair of problems at the
physical and network layers in support of data communications; physical
installation and maintenance of LAN communication equipment(routers,
switches, hubs, UPS, video conferencing equipment); troubleshooting end
user network connectivity issues(wiring, equipment, configurations);
installation and maintenance of video network(Telepresence, IPTV, digital
signage, video surveillance).

·         Access Operations provides technical assistance to Engineering,
Administrative Operations, Datacenter, Wireless, Triage, and Architecture
teams as needed.

·         Ensures and provides quality customer service and experience.

·         Is the primary escalation point for field issues.

·         Additionally, this position works closely with the Network
Engineering and Architecture teams, Service Desk, network end users,
outlying IT departments, and the SOC and Database teams.

·         They also work extensively with external customers in support of
inter- collaborative efforts such as Internet2 (NOX), and outsourced
services.

·         The Network Engineer works directly with the entire customer
base, and all other entities interacting with the network.

·         Participation in 24x7x365 on-call rotation is a requirement as
well as some off-hour work as needed.

·         Basic Qualifications

·         To be considered for this role, candidates must have the
following experience and skills:

·         Technical degree preferred.

·         Three years experience in computer / network support arena.

·         Experience with Cisco routing and switching hardware, Cisco IOS
configurations, IEEE 802.3, OSPF required.

·         CCNA certification a plus.

·         Must have a great understanding of the physical building blocks
of a wired Network including cabling, fiber and patch panels, and possess
knowledge of network design to the concept level.

·         Customer focus and ability to communicate effectively with all
levels of IT support personnel, including Network Engineers, Network
Architects, wiring contractors, building superintendents, and consultants
required.

·         Excellent technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to
communicate technical issues to non-technical people clearly and
succinctly.

·         The ability to think through and adapt to service delivery issues
in a calm, thorough manner are a must.

·         Superlative problem solving skills, strong attention to detail,
and quality-focused customer service orientation required.

·         In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate will have
these highly desirable skills:

·         Hands-on experience with OSI model layers one through three.

·         Experience with network analysis, 802.3, 802.11x, TCP, Cisco IOS,
link aggregation, Spanning Tree, DNS, DHCP, OSPF.

·         Strong customer service skills.

·         Strong interpersonal communications skills.

·         Excellent technical writing skills.
