*Position:Java Developer, Level 2 Location:Washington, DC Duration: 6+ months Mandatory Skills * JAVA/J2EE, JSP, PL/SQL, Oracle 10g/11g, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Unix, Linux *Detailed JD* The Business Intelligence (BI) Program is seeking an experienced Java Developer to be responsible for the maintenance and future development of a suite of applications that underpin critical business functions supported by the BI Work Program. He/she will be responsible for the creation, management and deployment of web services and the development and maintenance of Java based applications running on Java EE application servers to meet the BI Work Program deliverables. The selected candidate should have good experience in development of web services, web application development, debugging existing applications as well as performance tuning. Required: The candidate should have the following core skill set: 6-8 years of architecting enterprise solutions using JAVA/J2EE technologies and SOA architectures. 6-8 years of experience in building complex SQL statements. Hands-on experience in web services interaction models (RPC, SOA, REST) i.e consuming web services. Experience in development of web services using technologies HTTP, XML, SOAP, WSDL, Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI)). Familiarity with service delivery models (SaaS, PaaS). Familiarity with databases including Oracle 10g/11g. Microsoft SQL Server 2008, SQL and Transact-SQL. Excellent communication, writing/documentation and facilitation skills. Technical Degree, preferably in Computer Science/Engineering. Required Technologies: Programming Languages: JAVA/J2EE, JSP, PL/SQL Database: Oracle 10g/11g, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Operating Systems: Unix, Linux Desired: Experience in various data technologies such as Informatica (ETL), SAP Business Objects (Businesss Intelligence), COMPOSITE (Data Virtualization). Experience in various development methodology like Agile/Scrum development methodology. Familiarity with running web applications on Apache/Tomcat/IIS. Linux or windows systems administration skills. Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Global development experience is a plus Responsibilities: The candidate is expected to perform the following tasks: Conduct/attend requirements definition meetings with end users and document system/business requirements Develop an in-depth understanding of the business processes and data in the corporation and apply the knowledge towards developing and maintaining the web/data services Enhance (or create) web/data services to meet requirements, applying the BI team standards and naming conventions Maintain a “high” level of service performance as a design principle. Conduct performance tuning exercise for query responsiveness-issues Document definitions for all new web/data services and document the web/data services enhancements in a standard document. If the project involves the creation an interface between two systems, the web service developer will work with BI db team to create a mapping matrix describing the correlation between the data elements in the two systems Contribute to the support and maintenance of existing BI Work Program web applications.
