Position: SAN Storage Admin
Location: Malta, NY (*Malta* is a

Responsible for the day-to-day support of Storage Administration and Data
Backup and Recovery services, and is responsible for supporting storage and
backup infrastructure technology implementations in support of Data Center
Operations.  The Storage Engineer supports all NetApp SAN Storage along
with backup and recovery solutions in the enterprise and works in tandem
with server engineers to provide enterprise storage and data backup and
recovery support. The Storage Engineer is accountable for significantly
contributing to the overall technical architecture, stability, resiliency,
and general health related to data storage, backup and recovery solutions;
is a top level technical contributor with advanced knowledge and experience
in the area of technologies and Data Backup and Recovery, and related
hardware/software.  The Storage Engineer is responsible for solving
problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires evaluation
and judgment; is responsible for evaluating current systems, and assisting
in designing solutions for customers.

*Key Responsibilities:*



•             Support for all *NetApp SAN* and backup and recovery systems
in the enterprise including; SAN Storage Arrays, *SAN Network* Equipment
and Cabling and Backup and Recovery Hardware and Software.

•             Monitoring and providing break/fix support to *NetApp
SAN*and backup systems across the enterprise.

•            Architecting storage and backup configurations to match
application and BCP availability and recovery requirements.

•             Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with
SAN and backup systems

•             Champion introducing and integrating new technologies into
existing data center environments.

•             Performing routine audits of systems and software.

•             Applying updates, patches, and configuration changes.

•             Installing and configuring new hardware and software.

•             Answering technical queries from other IT support teams
(DBA’s, app development, networking, etc.)

•             Proactive remediation of failing components and systems to
prevent outages and interruptions.

•             Responding to and resolving service outages and
interruptions.

•             Additional support for UNIX, Linux, VMWare and Wintel Servers
as required.

•             Available to provide after hours and on-call support.

•             Participating in disaster recovery tests and planning

•             Partnering with peers and management to make informed
strategic/big-picture decisions

•             Designing, recommending, and deploying emerging storage
technologies

•             Perform pro-active support functions and reporting to
maintain the integrity of the enterprise equipment and infrastructure.

•             Contributes to the design and support of enterprise SAN and
backup systems including but not limited to technical architecture,
stability, and platforms.

•             Participate in the assessment and optimization of the storage
systems, through systems monitoring, statistics, and daily health checks.
Work with management to ensure accurate reporting KPIs and trends for all
facets of the environment.

•             Maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation diagrams
of the enterprise storage and backup infrastructure and configurations.

•             Identify and initiate continuous improvements.

•             Instill commitment to quality, customer service, ownership,
and teamwork.

•             Build strong customer relationships. Promote
internal/external customer service among organization.

•             Maintain awareness of new technological developments in
industry and processes - implement concepts appropriately.

•             Work with ticket queue to track support issues.

•             Make decisions that reflect the best interest of the company.



*Qualifications:*



Education:  BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience (7-8
years). Industry certifications a plus.



Technical knowledge and understanding requirements:

•             4-6 years storage and backup management experience in a large
IT environment.

•             Experience managing and understanding of backup and
multi-vendor storage solutions that are SAN attached. (Netapp, HP, IBM, HDS
etc.)

•             Storage networking (FC, iSCSI, etc)

•             Familiar with storage on Solaris, AIX, and UNIX systems



•             Working knowledge of Enterprise backup systems and software
(Netbackup, NAS, etc.)

•             Understanding of server technologies (UNIX, Windows, Citrix,
etc.)

•             Familiar with clustering technologies.

•             Familiar with Data Center Operations or Network Operations
Center environments.

•             Provide on-going training and technical direction to other
team members pertaining to system optimization, installation, upgrades,
configuration, and troubleshooting.

•             Interact with vendors in the resolution of complex problems.

•             Effectively communicate with customers, help desk support
personnel and senior engineers.

•             Present new technology and High level resolutions to
management

•             Participate in the evaluation of new technology solutions.
Evaluate equipment for performance and interoperability.

•             Capable of diagramming with Visio.

•             Understanding of Best Practices in managing an Enterprise
storage and backup infrastructure.

•             Understand, Document, and Maintain Infrastructure failure
points and plan for redundancy

•             A proven team player with strong interpersonal skills.



*Other Preferred Qualifications:*



•        Working knowledge in the Semiconductor industry, specifically the
Semiconductor Foundry industry.

•        Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.

•        VMWare, VSphere, and Virtualization technologies

•        Windows 2003/2007/2008, MCSE a plus.

•        Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory knowledge.
