Title: Business Data Analyst posted on 2014-08-14 14:19:20 Job Description:*Role : Business Data Analyst* *Location : Madison, WI* *Duration : 1+ Year* *Job Description:* · Working in the *Enterprise Data Management department*, this position will be responsible for requirements gathering to support data and reporting initiatives, data profiling and user acceptance testing strategy development and execution. · This position works with both the business and technical teams to support a large corporative initiative and must possess skills in facilitation to ensure the business needs are accurately reflected and understood across all team members. · Strong property & casualty insurance and business experience is a MUST HAVE, candidates should be Insurance Business Data Analysts with experience on both the business and technical side! Experience in Financials, Product, or Claims is highly desired. *Objective:* · This position is responsible for working with all divisions across the enterprise to capture business requirements related to data and reporting solutions to support corporate strategies, goals and objectives. · They provide leadership involving conceptualization, initiation, specification and testing of the data and reporting solutions. · They work closely with I/S to identify technology opportunities, share the business vision and strategy, and to ensure alignment of solutions to business needs. · They provide day to day support for data users to foster adoption and identify additional enhancements. *Required Skills:* Strong *property & casualty insurance* and *business experience* is a MUST HAVE, candidates should be *"Insurance" Business Data Analysts* with experience on both the business and technical side. *1. Strong Insurance Data Experience * · Strong knowledge of insurance industry, insurance products and coverage, and the value of customer analytics · Ability to identify drivers of business results and recognize appropriate measures, and translate that information to business analytics requirements · Ability to comprehend and consolidate existing legacy reporting into business intelligence report design. · Experience with statistical filing, regulatory and management level report content and fulfilling these requests · Expertise in data management concepts (data governance, metadata, reference data, data warehousing, collection, storage, quality, integrity, etc.) · Knowledge of policy & processing systems & their related data (Rating, 3rd Party, Customer) · Seeks out knowledgeable people to obtain information or clarify a problem · Comfortable going out to other areas to discuss existing reports/metrics & current data gaps & opportunities · Planning and organizational skills. · Ability to manage competing priorities. *2. Analytical Thinking and Information Gathering * · Develop data management and reporting requirements and manage data quality in collaboration with business systems and data department. · Ability to take unconnected concepts, find similarities and tie together · Ability to identify opportunities for efficiencies, and remove redundancies · Capable of identifying sources of information for a wide variety of problems and needs · Develops effective methods to improve the quality of information gathering, resulting in improved content and value *Desired skills:* · Experience determining the impact of change on the business areas, then facilitating communication and education needs to successfully deliver business analytic capabilities is a plus. · Experience with a managing requirements via a requirements management tool is a plus. · Demonstrated ability to effectively use and practice the Requirements Management methodology in complex business intelligence projects.
