Job Description:*We are looking for a Hadoop Architect / Administrator for
one of our clients in Schaumburg.*

*This can be a perm position or 6 month contract to hire.*

Salary Range:  $120,000 - $130,000 + 10-15% Bonus

Will be acting as primary Hadoop GO TO person architect  with 1/2
responsibilities in architecture and other 1/2 in administration, need
someone who is open and able to get hands dirty...should understand entire
Big Data Ecosystem and Core Platform

Experience with mapReduce and Hive are a Must but experience with other
"emerging technologies" such as Spark are pluses

Must have excellent communication skills and have experience working with
offshore vendors/consultants

Responsibilities:
·         Recovering from node failures and troubleshooting common Hadoop
cluster issues.
·         Understanding of distributed computing and map reduce basics.
·         Providing hardware architectural guidance, planning and
estimating cluster capacity, and creating roadmaps for Hadoop cluster
deployment.
·         Provisioning, installing, configuring, monitoring, and
maintaining HDFS, Pig, Hive and Oozie. Able to manage future Yarn, HBase,
Flume, Sqoop capability.
·         Patching and upgrading Cloudera clusters, as well as hardening
Hadoop clusters for highly scalable production usage.
·         Providing technical assistance with challenging issues that span
multiple systems, beyond Hadoop, or show recurring trends that have not
been successfully resolved.
·         Supporting Hadoop developers and assisting in optimization of map
reduce jobs, Hive Scripts, and other ingest and extract activities as
required.
·         Defining and managing continual service improvement to Hadoop
platform and surrounds.



Job Requirements: Required Experience:
·         At least 2 years of experience specific to administering Hadoop
clusters in production environments, Cloudera CDH preferred.
·         The ability to build and configure a Hadoop cluster from scratch.
·         At least 5 years of general Linux administration experience,
RedHat preferred.
·         Experience with cluster monitoring tools such as Nagios and
Ganglia, Cloudera Manager preferred.
·         Demonstrated complex problem solving experience.
·         High degree of pro-active initiative, drive, self-motivation,
ability to learn, responsiveness and good judgment.
·         Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly with
technical and non-technical people.
·         Experience in large-scale deployments of complex, multi-tiered,
enterprise systems.
·         Experience or exposure to security engineering best practices.

·         RedHat Linux
·         Cloudera Manager
·         Hadoop Administrator Certification from Cloudera is preferred,
but not required
