Thanks, Uday MySQL Database Engineer The Database Engineering team is part of the Global Service Engineering and is responsible for engineering highly available and resilient database infrastructure for multiple enterprise applications and multiple business lines. This role will be responsible for design, development, configuration, problem analysis, deployment, and continuous operational improvement of database infrastructure used at Visa. The responsibility includes working with MySQL technologies, including HA and DR technologies, to produce highly available, and resilient database systems. A core understanding of the underlying infrastructure and technologies of complex database systems is required (i.e. Physical and VM compute infrastructure, SAN infrastructure, Unix/Linux Operating Systems, Network, etc.). He or she must be able to collaborate with others to manage and rationalize incoming requirements in order to implement appropriate solutions. This includes strong documentation skills throughout the systems development lifecycle. This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. This role serves as a technical/functional specialist and exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor. Key Responsibilities ?Provide technical expertise to design and implement the most efficient and cost effective solutions for MySQL based database systems. ?Provide DBA support for databases in various environments including development, QA, performance, pre-production. ?Database physical design (considering storage structures) and implementation of high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions. ?Provide DBA support in configuring enterprise monitoring, backup, alerting, and security compliance solutions for databases. ?Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new hardware and platforms. ?Enhance database standards, operating procedures, engineering patterns and automation ?Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of escalated Level 3 issues (for production databases) ?Regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis, predictive future database resource requirements, and the structured organized reporting of the same ?Work closely with other Infrastructure engineering, product development, operations to ensure delivery of database services within the SLAs and performance target set ?Participate in the evaluation, selection and implementation of DBA tools to improve the effectiveness of tasks such as performance monitoring and tuning, recovery, and database change management processing. Qualifications (Must-have Skills) Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited university. 8+ years of total experience with at least 5 years as DBA/DBE with one or more of the following DBMS platforms: MySQL, Oracle. In-depth knowledge and expertise with MySQL including Master-Slave setup Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills Advance performance and SQL tuning skills Knowledge of UNIX/Linux OS and storage subsystems to design high performing DB Systems. Proficiency in Korn/bash shell scripting.
