*Reply me on [email protected] <[email protected]>* Atlanta, GA 1+ year contract Ruby is top language and then Java 2-3 spots open for Backend Ruby Developer. Trying to merge the data of 2 branches because they have no way to connect the two databases. It is very costly to maintain 2 separate databases with different software. This project includes the backend for search and recommendation and then build an API layer to connect the two. Need a strong database guy that knows Ruby and has done some scripting. ETL experience required for the data side. No UI experience required. He really needs a backend database Ruby guy. Mandatory Qualifications: Bachelor’s or MS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience 5-15 years development experience in several Object Oriented languages like Java and Ruby 5+ years’ experience working in large scale high performance web environments (emphasis on server side, API development). Strong knowledge of web application frameworks and patterns (Rails, Spring, Struts, JSF, MVC) SOA experience with strong familiarity with SOAP, REST, JMS… Strong experience writing complex SQL queries, strong knowledge of relational database structures. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases. ETL design and implementation is a plus. Strong data analysis and basic statistics skills. Experience with Amazon Web Services (RDS, RedShift, Data Pipeline, Kinesis, OpsWork...) Experience with one or more agile development methodologies, like SCRUM or XP, and Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins, Puppet. Unix admin knowledge, Experience using Application Servers Ability to successfully resolve stressful production issues Excellent communication skills Excellent problem solving skills with strong attention to detail Optional Qualifications: Experience working with large datasets, preferably using tools like Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, Pig, Hive or Redshift, Multithreaded application development, knowledge of Scala. Familiarity with machine learning, predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and/or data mining algorithms.
