Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Understands client's business, business systems, and impacts of infrastructure on business operations • Installs, maintains, upgrades, troubleshoots, tests, and supports data base technologies SQL Server---(a plus: Oracle, Red Brick, Sybase) • Ensures that databases systems are implemented to meet client's internal and external standards and service level requirements • Ensures data bases are replicated and backed up to meet client's operational and disaster recovery requirements • Performs database hygiene and maintenance to ensure optimum performance • Provides problem solving expertise and coordination as required across all technologies implemented at client. • Tunes data bases for optimal performance • Documents database designs and related processes Key Success Factors: • Ability to work with minimal supervision • Assumes total responsibility for work assigned and delivers on commitments • Takes ownership of problems and/or issues and ensures timely resolution • Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement of the computing environment • Is able to respond quickly and adapt to changes in priorities driven by a dynamic marketplace • Is able to interact with client's executive management both inside and outside of IT Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. • 5-7 years information systems experience in a large enterprise systems environment supporting mission-critical systems and applications. • A high degree of demonstrated technical excellence across multiple database technologies and computing platform technical specialties. Excellent problem solving skills across multiple disciplines.
