Location:  New York
Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Securities Lending Technology unit of Prime Services at Goldman, Sachs
& Co is looking for a developer to work on a proprietary trading system
that facilitates Securities Lending to cover client and firm short
positions. The successful candidate will be involved in the full lifecycle
of system development as well as interacting directly with the business
unit for requirements gathering and final product delivery. The candidate,
as part of the global team, will be responsible for developing and
deploying new solutions as well as work on enhancing and supporting
existing infrastructure and code libraries for strategic Securities Lending
Trading Inventory Management System. The candidate should be open to learn
and use a wide variety of open source and proprietary technologies.
 Basic Qualifications
 2+ years of experience in building applications using Java technologies.
Specifically:
- Core Java. The candidate should have solid understanding of core Java
concepts and Design Patterns.
- Distributed Systems using EJB and JMS.
- Testing Framework. The candidate should have a good understanding of
principles behind test driven development (TDD) and have hands on
experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit.
- Database Skills.  The candidate should be proficient with SQL, able to
write and analyze complex queries with multi-table joins and aggregate
functions.
- Problem Solving Skills. The candidate should be able to analyze
non-trivial interdependencies between systems. Ability to develop effective
code in several different languages.
- Functional Knowledge: Desire to understand business needs and
requirements, work with domain specific technologies (e.g. SecDB ).
 Preferred Qualifications
 - Good understanding and prior experience using Spring Framework is a plus.
- Prior experience with UDB  and/or Sybase is a plus.
