Role: Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure

Duration: 6 Months

Location: San Francisco, CA

*Description:*



*Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the
following: Strategy & Planning *• Design and implement short- and long-term
strategic plans to ensure infrastructure services meet utility and warranty
requirements and target service levels.
• Drive the collaborative development of IT service strategies.
• Assist in creating an infrastructure and security architecture for the
management, improvement and growth of the network infrastructure, servers,
desktops, service desk and security systems based on industry best
practices.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated
training plans for infrastructure administration and project management
based on industry-standard best practices and SOX and FDA requirements.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on standards, products and
services in support of all infrastructure procurement and development
efforts.
• Participate in strategic planning, tactical operation planning, and the
development of security, compliance and contingency operation plans for
Medivation’s information Infrastructure.
• Establish service level agreements with functional area owners.

*Acquisition & Deployment *• Lead the deployment, monitoring, maintenance,
development, upgrade, and support of servers, IS Operations applications,
and networks.
• Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements,
and other conversions.
• Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other
documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts.
• Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure
infrastructure-specific products and services.
• Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security
measures.
• Prepare disaster recovery site and test exercises to restore all
operations in a timely manner.
• Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and
evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet,
intranet, security, wireless implementations, etc.
• Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and
stakeholders.

*Operational Management *• Oversee all information systems infrastructure
monitoring and analysis tools and processes for network and server
performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
• Manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts
for expanded functionality/user base.
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with
the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department
heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities.
• Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component
inventory and related documentation.
• Staff management responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching
and training employees: planning, assigning, and directing work;
performance management and reviews; staff development; addressing complaint
and resolving problems.


*Requirements: *• 7 years experience managing and delivering infrastructure
design and operational excellence.
• Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as
successful service level agreement accomplishments.
• 5 years successful leadership of an infrastructure team.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting infrastructure availability and
security issues.
• Knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, 802.11,
EIGRP, RIP, BGP, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS.
• Conversant with technologies such as: SQL, SharePoint, and IIS.
• Application support experience with Windows Core Services, Exchange
Server, VMWare vSphere, Citrix, Veeam, Symantec Backup Exec, and others.
• Experience in interpreting the applicability of local and federal
laws/regulations to company operations.
• Ability to make sound and logical judgments.
• Demonstrated leadership and personnel/project management skills.
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Able to conduct research into issues and products as required.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
• Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• On-call availability for tier III/management escalations.
• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse,
power tools, and to handle other computer components.
• Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
• Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers
and peripherals.
• 10-15% Travel.
• PC literacy required; MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


*Education: *• Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field
of computer science and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
• Licenses or Certifications: Certifications in ITSM processes; Microsoft,
Cisco Networking, Virtualization technologies and/or 15 years equivalent
work experience.
