Uses knowledge of LAN/MAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Requires a bachelors degree and at least 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. This role must be well versed with the advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems. Possesses one or more industry standard certifications including CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc. ITIL v3 studies expected. Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Must be familiar with managed services concepts within an outsourcing environment. Typically reports to a manager. General experience 1. 7-10+ years of network architecture and engineering experience in designing networks to improve operational proficiency. 2. Experience in configuring Cisco Routers, Switches, and Firewalls. 3. Engaged in design, install, configure and maintenance of complex routing, switching, QOS, WAN/LAN, firewalls, load balancers and network security issues. 4. Plan, Design and Implement enterprise security infrastructure 5. Experience working with EIGRP, BGP, RIP, OSPF, HSRP, multicast, VRF, IPSEC, Site to site VPN, Split Managed VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SNMP, TFTP. 6. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Specific for the existing MHE environment 1. Discovery, collection, and validation of needed separation link, eDMZ Firewall, PartnerNet, and Load Balancer rules as well as DNS changes 2. LAN (Cisco Nexus 5K & 2K, Catalyst switches, trunking, port channel) troubleshooting and corrections on system start-up 3. Routing (Server static routes, Nexus 7K, ASA firewalls) troubleshooting from server to server through the network and separation link firewalls 4. eDMZ firewall (Cisco ASA) rules troubleshooting and correction with application testing 5. Partnernet firewall (Cisco ASA) rules troubleshooting and correction with development teams and application testing (IPSEC) 6. Local and global load balancer (F5 BIG-IP, GTM/LTM) rules troubleshooting and correction with application testing 7. DNS (Infoblox) troubleshooting and correction during all phases. 8. Aruba wireless and ClearPass technology. 9. Juniper VPN. 10. Exposure to the following tools: Spectrum, eHealth, SolarWinds, NetBrain, LANGuardian, FireEye, SourceFire, Tufin, WireShark, Cisco ACS. 11. Experienced with Cisco IOS and NOS upgrades a must. Candidates need to be mature with a solid 7-10 years’ experience as network engineers, 2-3 of those years in a senior engineering role. Minimum certification would be CCNA, prefer CCNP or higher; Aruba and Juniper certifications also preferred. Candidates also must have background in complex, managed networks and possess strong analytical/organizational skills.
