Administrator.AGENCY MISSION: The Department of Small Business Services
(SBS) makes it easier for companies in New York City to form, do business
and grow by providing direct assistance to business owners, fostering
neighborhood development in commercial districts, promoting financial and
economic opportunity among minority- and women-owned businesses, preparing
New Yorkers for jobs and linking employers with a skilled and qualified
workforce.PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The SBS Technology Unit has built a .NET
application called Worksource1 to serve as the primary system used by
Agency program units to deliver workforce and business development
services. Worksource1 supports customer service delivery and total business
operations with functionalities that include case management and assessment
tools, management reporting capabilities, and performance monitoring. The
current release contains several case management modules that are
streamlined to support workflow in the NYC Workforce1 Career Centers and
other service delivery locations. Data captured in Worksource1 is
transferred to the New York State Department of Labor’s (NYSDOL) State-wide
case management system, called the One Stop Operating System (OSOS) through
a series of XML based API’s on a weekly basis.SBS has planned several major
enhancements to Worksource1. These enhancements will require upgrades to
our networking infrastructure, improved application security, updating the
application interface to improve user experience and providing more robust
reporting functionality for SBS staff.SBS is seeking a SQL Server Database
Administrator to work with our Technology Unit to complete enhancements to
Worksource1. Responsibilities will include:1. Design advanced SQL queries,
stored procedures, triggers, scripts2. Maintain, modify, and optimize the
Worksource1 SQL Server database3. Collaborate with applications developers
on data modeling and E-R diagrams4. Manage database performance, capacity,
replication, backup and security5. Work with external entities to
facilitate data transfers6. Assist business analysts and end-users with
reporting needsMandatory Skill/Expertise6 years or more experience
installing, designing and managing MS SQL 2000, 2005 & 2008.• Experience
designing and implementing new MS SQL Server databases• Extensive
experience writing advanced SQL queries and reporting services, analyzing
and optimizing queries and stored procedures and SSIS packages• Experience
supporting XML APIs• Broad understanding of software development and web
technologies• Highly proficient with report development in MS-Office
Access, MS Excel and Crystal Reports• Perform multiple projects on small
teams• Creative problem solving• Excellent communication and presentation
skillsDesirable Skill/Expertise       VBA, Access, PowerPoint and Excel. •
Programming skills in VBProgramming skills in VB, VB.NET <http://VB.NET>,
ASP/ASP.NET <http://ASP.NET>, VBScript and JavaScript and/or experience
with automated performance testing a plus. *
