The EHR Application Analyst will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with the end users and representatives from all areas of the hospital related to their specific application. The EHR Application Analyst should have an understanding of MD Anderson’s objectives for implementing an EMR and the ability to recognize opportunities for process redesign that will help the organization maximize the benefits of the implementation. In addition to the duties discussed above, he/she is responsible for the following: 1. Analysis of EPIC model content and negotiation of any user requested modifications 2. Modification of EPIC content as prescribed by project team 3. Populating databases for which they are the owner during the initial system build, with assistance from Epic staff 4. Working with users on the sharing of data, category lists, etc. 5. Setting standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications 6. Understanding choices in application specifications 7. Investigating the preferred choices of the users 8. Analyzing data conversion needs 9. Preparing details of specifications as needed 10. Developing and documenting internal procedures 11. Aiding trainers during user training 12. Input to project plan throughout the course of the implementation to insure major milestones are met and appropriate project tracking is accurate 13. Troubleshooting problems or questions from users 14. Prioritizing and implementing changes requested for the system 15. Coordinating software updates and changes with users 16. Thoroughly reviewing and testing each new release and communicating needed changes to Epic before users are permitted to access the new release 17. Collecting information regarding potential system enhancement needs 18. Responding to Epic’s technical questions 19. Understanding both the clinical and business workflows to achieve strategic outcomes for the implementation 20. Promotes professional growth and development through leadership activities and continuing education and training 21.
