Call for Papers - SNAMAS@ESSA’2011
One of the most central research topic in the field of multi-agent systems (MAS) is the understanding of the relation between micro dynamics and macro phenomena or properties. This key question is declined in many fields, especially in social sciences, where simulation and agent-based modelling have been widely used to achieve explanation or prediction of some specific phenomena and/or to test some insights about a wide range of issues. Many multi-agent systems feature networks to describe the structure of interactions among the population of agents; depending on the multi-agent system, it may describe a physical computer network, confidence networks or social networks. So-called "social networks" include many kinds of networks like contact networks, family networks, confidence networks and so on. In this case, multi-agents systems may take benefit of both the fields of Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Complex Networks. Theories and tools from these fields help either to generate the initial network, to describe/analyze the evolution of the network during the simulation or to analyze its impact on the macroscopic dynamics. Aiming to investigate the role of these networks and their effects on agent-based simulation, the SNAMAS special session will be focused on multi-agent systems which involve interaction networks (including social networks). Topics include the study of the impact of initial networks on the dynamics of the system and/or the endogenous evolution of the network performed by the agents (network dynamics). This special session takes place during ESSA conference, thus is sharing its calendar, facilities and proceedings. The deadline for papers submission was postponed to May, 6.
