The sun* sysname scheme is in addition to the general problems of having a sysname more broken than others. It is more a historic than a likely choice of abbrevation. At pdc.kth.se and at e.kth.se we will go for <arch>_<dist>. That maps allready to for example rs_aix51. We will follow this with i386_rh9 and ia64_deb30, too. So sparc_sol10 would be a good choice but probably sun4x_sol10 is an alternative choice for the historically bound.
