OpenAFS has been ported to s390 in much earlier versions, but the port has not been kept up to date as well as it should. It is noteworthy that OpenAFS runs fine on s390 on Debian and SuSE with recent 2.4 kernels. But even the SuSE one needed a few ugly patches, so I bet RedHat will be similar. For s390x, no port exists yet. The unofficial, no-warranty (blah blah, standrd disclaimer) release for SuSE SLES8 is at http://www.sinenomine.net/downloads/openafs/ if that would be any help. If I can get my hands on a copy of RHEL to install on Sine Nomine's S/390 box, I'll check into this issue. Alternatively, if someone could give me access to an S/390 box with RHEL on it, please email me privately.
