Hi, Error -1 seems like a kernel module related issue, i.e afsd was unable to find the kernel module, so you do need the MP kernel module.. Sorry 2.4.25 is a Mandrake kernel which I compiled myself (replaced the SATA_SIL patch), but the server is actually using 2.4.28.0.rc1.5 Which other kernel modules do you have loaded, is there a chance that one of them plays with the sys_call table? But if you intend to run a server, you do not need to start afsd? afsd is only for a client. I run openafs 1.2.11 or openafs-1.2.13 on my dual-opteron clients, those work okay. I have the src.rpms in the directory http://www.ictp.it/~onime/amd64/
For a server, you can modify the /etc/sysconfig/afs script and enable the server and disable the client. If you want to try a new kernel, I think 2.4.28 is also okay. Thanks Clement > Hi, Onime, > I successfully rebuild the rpms from your sources. The startup script > loads > libafs-2.4.21-27.0.2.EL.XFSsmp-amd64 > into the kernel.
