Derrick is right, performance takes a back seat to stability/reliability and functionality. If this is enabled, then the server piece needs to be stable and bulletproof. In otherwords, make the server bulletproof, and you can fix the clients later. Otherwise admins are going to swear at you and disable the feature and never re-enable it.
