Hello Brandon, thanks, that worked. when I log in with the new userid, after logging in I actually end up in the user directory (but I don't seem to have any permissions in it (creating a file doesn't seem to work)..
I am a rookie at this... this probably means I need to set some additional permissions for the user too...right ? thanks, Ron. >On Fri, 2003-09-19 at 12:31, Ron Croonenberg wrote: >> at a machine that mounts the cell : >> Could not chdir to home directory /home/cowboy: Permission denied > >At a guess, you haven't granted "l" access to system:anyuser on the home >directory or some directory leading to it; login needs to be able to >access the directory before it has a token. > >-- >brandon s. allbery [linux, solaris, freebsd, perl] [EMAIL PROTECTED] >system administrator [WAY too many hats] [EMAIL PROTECTED] >electrical and computer engineering, carnegie mellon univ.
