I grabbed the 1.2.11 tar unpacked and installed the buserver on my machine that does afs backups. I am still having probs
with the backup subsystem. Short of upgrading/sidegrading to openafs 1.2.11 from AFS3.6-5  is there anything I can
look for to determine where my problem may be and fix?

I tried using the ones that Hoffman was nice enough to put up. Seems the
ubik problem is solved? but my backup system is broke now.

Did you upgrade buserver as well? It has the same issue.
