ANy module such as libafs.ko can be added to the "pseudo-static" vmlinuz kernel used at boot by including libafs in /etc/sysconfig/kernel "INITRD_MODULES=..."
 
and running mkinitrd which puts it in initrd with all the other modules needed at boot time.
 
Doing something with it at boot time is another thing...
