Thanks, I only have one machine to test this on. I have some familiarity with Linux and the client server model so its not that bad. I essentially cannot mount the user volumes. I would like to understand why.
These are some funny entries in the protection database. I am not sure that this should be as it is: -bash-2.05b$ pts listentries Name ID Owner Creator anonymous 32766 -204 -204 admin 1 -204 32766 lsorrillo 500 -204 32766 sorrillo 501 -204 32766 -bash-2.05b$ The -204 and 32766 entries are weird. ~Lawrence -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 2:07 PM To: openafs-info@openafs.org Subject: RE: [OpenAFS] Need help Please It sounds like you are setting up AFS for the first time. So, one suggestion is: install the server (and not the client) on one system, and install only the client on another system. Then, you'll get a better sense of what the server does, and what the client does. There's a pretty steep learning curve initially, so you want to make it as non-confusing as possible. Good luck. anne Quoting "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Hi: > > I tried installing OpenAFS on RHEL3.0.4 machine - both the client and > server parts. > > The configuration is confusing to me: > Here is what I have so far(I have been working as root as along): > .... _______________________________________________ OpenAFS-info mailing list OpenAFS-info@openafs.org https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-info ====================================================================== The information contained in this message is intended only for the recipient, and may otherwise be privileged and confidential.
