I've been doing some experiments with the OpenAFS on Windows 7 loopback adapter
problem.

Configuration:
Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit, all updates
OpenAFS 1.5.75
A VPN using Microsoft software to another machine (64-bit Server 2008 Standard
in my case)
A wireless USB adapter

Changes to default O/S & OpenAFS install:
On the Loopback adapter property page, check two boxes:
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver & Responder
Save and reboot. Don't know if the reboot is really necessary but that's what I
did.

After logging in, Kerberos, etc...
OpenAFS works as indicated by the copy of a file, dir, etc. from the console
prompt.
Create a VPN connection and immediately try the copy, dir, etc. and see that
OpenAFS has stopped working. Beware of misleading results because of caching.
Wait 4-5 minutes.
Repeat copy, dir, etc and see that OpenAFS now works.
Install a wireless network adapter. In my case, it was a Linksys WUSB540GC Rev
3. The install CD didn't work for Windows 7 so I needed to visit the web site
to get a driver for it.
As soon as the device showed up in "ipconfig /all" I tried OpenAFS again and it
worked just fine - no delay needed.

If someone has the time to play with this, can they reproduce these results and
perhaps try some additional tests?
Mickey.
