I would love to see the new release - the sooner the better! One small request though - would it be possible that the final snapshots before the release were actually the same identical stuff that goes into the release? One of the previous releases I remember testing and re-testing the snapshots only to discover that the release came out completely different and not even being able to compile it anymore...
