Great to hear! I'm a junior in high school, and have been using OpenBabel
for about a year now. I was thinking about a statistical analysis of
structural properties of esters vs. their smells, but I don;t know if I'll
have the time. I already had given it a go and was stopped because I
couldn't get an isomer-testing algorithm to work, but if I just start out
with a list of compounds I could always use that for analysis. If we
weren't supposed to share our ideas here, sorry, but I guess I don't mind
if someone uses mine.
I'm participating in a ScienceMadness.Org amateur chemistry competition,
for producing the most useful (and largest) range of laboratory chemicals
form five household items, so I'll be tied up with that. Although the
stakes are, of course, much higher for the Google Summer of Code (though I
guess that is this summer, kinda far away, hmm...), I know I have a very
good chance of winning in the ScienceMadness competition.
Good luck to all other users of OpenBabel in the 'Summer of Code', and
perhaps I'll join in too.
Cheers, (second-guessed myself upon seeing I had picked up that phrase from
seeing Geoffry Hutchinson's emails so often...)
