A relative path mapping requires that OpenBD call Request.getRealPath() to look up look up the full physical path. On BD JX (the commercial version of BD) this requires a callback to the Apache web server via the web server connector. I'm not certain, but it appears that maybe there's a problem somewhere in the Tomcat/mod_jk/Apache communication path. (This is somewhat speculative, but that's the first place I'd look). Configuring a physical path mapping doesn't require a callback, so no problem.
