I wish I had an elegant solution for you but it's a nasty problem. A 
couple of other things to try:

- Mark Mandel's javaloader (http://javaloader.riaforge.org/). It's been 
a while since I used it with OpenBD so I'm not sure if there are any 
compatibility issues but I believe it would get around the issue as it 
creates a separate classloader

- Jar Jar Links (http://code.google.com/p/jarjar/) is a project I've 
been meaning to look at which promises to "avoid problems where your 
library depends on a specific version of a library, which may conflict 
with the dependencies of another library"
