As Nitai said if you need functionality that isn't in cfimage today, check out ImageMagick and it will do everything you need. Not quite as slick as using a cfimage tag but not terribly complicated. We've also been discussing leveraging ImageMagick as the underpinnings of cfimage, but again no firm time table on that.
