Also test the following to isolate the server in question: Set up a fix domain alias in Tomcat like 123.domain.com. Then hist Tomcat with that, does it work? If yes, then setup the same fix domain in Apache and forward it to Tomcat. Does it work? If yes, then simply replace the 123.domain.com part in apache with *.domain.com.
If it does not work with one of the servers you at least know which one does not work and can continue from there on.
