Thanks Kevin, I was leaning toward the loop. first, I like to error on
pushing the workload to OpenBD because it's easier for me to scale out
webservers (and add several into a network load balanced situation) than it
is to keep beefing up a database.

Yea, I'm trying to get it to work first. I'm trying to make things
functional from the end user point of view. My philosophy has been to make
things work first and when/if it becomes an issue, I can revisit the code
and look for a better method. AND/OR just higher a more skilled programmer
to make it all better. It's harder to say "make it work" then it is to say
"here, it works, and you can see the end result I am trying for. Is there a
'better' way?"

Btw, I have a small bmw z4, and it's nearly impossible to move around in the
snow. I called off work Monday and Tuesday because I didn't want to take my
car out in the snow.. So I understand!
