Matthew W may recall some conversations we had on this list before,
regarding how CGI variables are passed through proxies.
You're talking about doing proxy work for Apache 2? As I recall, an
important factor was which proxy mod you were using. I think AJP worked
better than HTTP in maintaining CGI's like IPs and host names, for example.
Network appliances that handle server clusters (like Netscaler) would
pass through a true client IP, but as a differently named CGI variable.
Some systems like IIS would need some extra software in order to see and
parse them.
