I am attaching the JAR file.  The code can be seen here:
http://pastebin.com/0AAGZ7US.   I am 100% open to critiques.  I would love
become a better Java developer.

If you are using the OpenBD Desktop, you will need to put that JAR in the
"customjars-gae" directory.  Otherwise, I assume you could just put it in
WEB-INF/lib.   Then, place the CFML method that I placed in the preceding
post in the class that needs it.  If you figure out how to make it work in
the component.cfc let me know.
