*oops*, guess I didn't expect the plugin overview page to describe the
installation procedures. Normally they (=overview pages) tend to
simply give an simplistic 'overview' of whatever they are about (and I
just checked with a number of colleagues whether that was just me, but
they assured me that they would have probably ignored the overview
page as well :P ), once I figured out that it should be placed into
/web-inf/lib it worked right out of the box. Still, to be fair, I
simply followed the link from the homepage, so overlooking the plugin
overview page is quite a realistic mistake to happen so some
explanation on the page itself really wouldn't hurt (e.g. "[...]red,
simply drop the JAR file into /WEB-INF/lib/ , restart[..]" would be
quite a bit easier to follow). Oh well, thanks a lot for the help and
awesome job on the debugger (just did some basic testing, as the pilot
application I am currently porting to openbd is far far away from
working) and sorry for the trouble.
No problems at all David, and your comments are well received. We'll
update the manual with a little more pointers on how to make this
painless. Appreciate the feedback
And one last (off-thread) question (for now); is there any porting
tips page which mentions stuff such as "Linux is case sensitive, so
make sure your application.cfc is written with a capital if you're
switching from windows" (took some time to figure out) and stuff like
"applicationStop() and these and these functions do not exist (yet) in
coldfusion" etc.? (In case there isn't there is a small chance I might
be writing one myself in the coming weeks primarily for my colleagues,
but in case there will be one I will make sure to share it as well)
David
oooh if you do then please share it with us and we'll look to add it to
the main manual. There isn't really any such document because it is
getting less and less. The one you mentioned there, Linux vs. Windows
for case sensitivity bites a lot of people on the bum both inside and
outside the CFML world.
