Frankly, it's been so long since I used the cfform components, that
I've forgotten what benefits they offer - over their traditional
html/css/js counterparts. I'm probably not the only one who would
suggest leaving that family of tags behind, and leveraging some 21st
century frameworks instead. But the first thing I'd do is examine what the browser ultimately sees, via "view source" or debugging tools like FireBug: What is the CFML server spitting out as html, after digesting your sample code below.
