Those buttons seem to cmoe from the old implementation of the testings.

Time ago, mid 2005, we did some developments to store in the application 
some tests that could be later exported to different formats, tutorials, 
plain text, watir test cases,...

To be able to record the tests some changes in wad where done to include 
information that wasn't before. One of these changes was to enable a 
session global variable, that when it was true it enables 3 new buttons 
in the toolbar to include extra lines in the test that was generated, to 
do screenshots on a certain moment or to insert asserts.

I'd say that they can be safely removed.
