The todays implementation of ACL is not really easy to understand and
manage. Therefore we think about a reorganization. Does anybody has a
opinion about Data::ACL or Decision::ACL?
Before starting the menu generation routine, then, we should chose the
access control method and integrate it into the command from the
beginning, don't we ?
The development of the access control should be independent from the
menu generation. If we want to use role dependent (context sensitive)
menus then we should implement this in a later release. I like to have
small independent pieces of work to minimize the coordination problems.
We want generate our menus dynamical. The description of the menus
should be included in an XML file. This XML-file should be parsed and
then a script should generate a XHTML-file. Any ideas are welcomed. We
think about things like XML::XSLT, XML::DOM and XML::Generator.
Massimiliano manages this area but we are pleased with any ideas,
recommendations or help.
I will appreciate any help you can give me. I heard good words also
about the XML::Simple module (for xml parsing). I don't know anything about
server-side xsl transformations so, if you have any experience in the
field, let's share it :-D
I only try to get a first overview about the area and start looking for
interested people.
I would also move configuration files, if everything goes well with
xml-menu management, to xml: this will require only the
OpenCA::Configuration module
to be modified to support xml and will allow for better configuration
maintenence (and the chance to write a web-based configurator, someone
wants
to voluteer ? ).
Good idea. Please add it to the TODO list.
